Up to the mountain

It is a rare thing to come upon an illustration that really captures the essence of fantasy dwarves to me. This one, has a great dark frame with details and the use of golden backlight is really genious.

But not only is the envirement in the piece proper and in great detail, the dwarf and his equipment have extraordinary details in them. This really underline the fact that dwarves in most fantasy settings are superb craftsmen and put great honor in crafts.

Proportions are also spot on, there is no doubt that it's a dwarf.

Great color work, the earthly tones suit the subject.
